Great Crested Newts
On the way back to Edinburgh we stopped at a National Trust property that had a pond with a huge number of Great Crested Newts in it. It was really a spectacular sight, and we spent ages watching them coming up for air, putting their heads in water lily leaf buds and wriggling around. My son was keen to photograph then, and this was the best one. I think it must be a female, as it doesn't have a crest, they are some size, about 15cm in length.
