My life, my lens

Miss Saigon

Mum and I had a lazy morning before heading to Westfield for lunch and some shopping. When we arrived back at Chancery Lane we could hear lots of sirens, smell smoke in the air and noticed a number of shops were shut. When we got home we looked up what was going on and found out there had been a fire underground on Kingsway which is just up the road from where I live. There had been 2000 people evacuated and all of the emergency services were on site as it was declared a major incident. We had tickets for Miss Saigon and would have walked via Kingsway on any other day. We detoured around the site and were really pleased the play was still running as a number of others had been cancelled.

The show was great and I loved the scene with the helicopter. We walked back from the theatre and most of Holborn had opened up again. At the top of Kingsway you could see the smoke coming up from a number of manhole covers and the operation was still in full flow. Im just glad it wasn't something more serious and that nobody was injured.
