Indefinitely - Travis

Anyone who has followed me through this challenge will know that I love jazz. Today, whether or not you like jazz, are a Scot, or would have preferred a different kind of blip, I'd ask you to take a moment to consider how we fund our national companies.

In the past decade the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra has grown, under the leadership of Tommy Smith, to be one of the finest Jazz ensembles in Europe, winning praise and prizes which in turn bring honour to Scotland itself.

You might expect that its DEFINITE grant funding from Creative Scotland would continue INDEFINITELY and most probably increase to reflect its enormous achievement on the international stage.The Orchestra would then continue to plan DEFINITE long-term projects with international artists, building on the success of such projects in the past, when grant was DEFINITE.

But Creative Scotland seems to have not one iota of understanding and has changed the way such grant is given. Unless the Scottish Government takes action on direct grant funding or intervenes to demand that Creative Scotland thinks again, the plans which would have taken the Orchestra to even greater heights may need to be postponed ....... INDEFINITELY. This brings shame on our country.

I am furious!
