Birthday Tea

As part of my birthday present to the Wee Pal I usually take her out for a meal round about her birthday, but this year she decided to defer it till this weekend and we headed up to Gleneagles Hotel for afternoon tea.
The weather was really pleasant, sunny and warm and with getting the train up we were looking to walk up to the hotel from the station but it is a bit further than we thought and we would be walking along the road with no pavement so it was handy that a courtesy vehicle from Gleneagles was at the station and after explaining why we were going up to the hotel we got a lift, arriving a couple of hours before our booked time. Had good wander about, there is a lot of Gleneagles to see with the weather being as kind as it was a pleasant daunder, and then it was into the hotel for tea, and savouries, and scones, and cakes. Went through two pots of English Breakfast whilst munching through the goodies on the stand as shown. The cake at the bottom right the orange dollop in the pastry case was simply the best small cake I’ve had in years, passion fruit I fairly sure it was. Although the wee pal is coeliac she had as large amount of goodies as I had and was just as yummy. Doggie bags were supplied for goodies that couldn’t be eaten on the day.
A bit of chat to the doorman and we were whisked back to the station in plenty time to get the train back to Edinburgh. A great day out it was.
