Suzie

Today is Suzie's 6th birthday.

We lost Mousehole, our 17-year-old Tuxedo cat on October 14th. We adopted Suzie and Sallie on December 8th. Mousehole was our 7th and last cat over the course of our 25-year marriage, and until Mousehole died, we'd never been without a cat ever. I had a cat (Bonnie, who lived to be 19 years old) when I first met Newby.  Those 55 "cat-less" days were a dark and depressing time for us. Because we had plans to travel for a year, we decided to hold off adopting another cat until after our travels. But during those 55 days, we did not talk to each and did our own stuff. Our deep grief over loss of our cats and being without a cat took us completely by surprise. So, we scrapped our travel plans, got online, found Sallie and Suzie on a Siamese rescue website and sent an application to adopt them. Within a week, they were in our lives. Once the kitties were safe at home with us, my husband and I started talking to each other and after four months, we're still talking to each other!
