Here's Johnny!

Had a bit of a blip with accommodation last night as obviously the $30 room with access to hot springs didn't quite live up to standard. Found a cheapie chalet at a backpackers hostel that was more than adequate.

Had a lovely morning in Rotorua walking through the park which is a natural wonder in itself - the park just bubbles away - under your feet and is not as deep as you think either.

Next stop Skotel Alpine Resort on the base of Mt Ruapehu. Hoping for clear blue skies and views over Tongariro National Park an active volcanic reserve. Well the heavens have opened and we are in the clouds.

Had a Hot Chocolate at the highest cafe in NZ. Looks like it will be that way for our whole stay so we are going to enjoy the hotel - there's a a small hot tub and Sauna and the showers are amazing!

It does remind me of The Shining though, should have found an old tricycle!
