Spanish Lunchtime

There are moves afoot to bring the Spanish/Catalan clock back by one hour to GMT, as it used to be before Hitler pressurised them to change to German time during the Second World War. Barcelona is almost directly on the Greenwich Meridian, by the way.

More than this there is a bigger challenge to bring the whole Spanish /Catalan day forward so that they would lunch earlier and finish work earlier and have more time on social/leisure/hobby/sports activities. Finishing work regularly at 8pm or later doesn't allow for much of this.

It all makes logical sense and I'm sure if I was tied to a typical Spanish contract of employment I'd be at the vanguard shouting for this change. As an outsider, I'll be sorry to see the Spanish/Catalan way of centuries go . . . but there is a societal benefit at stake even though many (older) Spaniards will find it hard to see.
