Day 8 - To the Romantic Road

An earlyish start out of Prague as we set out back across the border into Germany. We enjoyed playing the "Skoda" on "no-da" game with the traffic - so many Czechs still stay loyal to the Skoda car brand and a huge proportion of cars still seem to be Skoda branded (despite really being VWs now of course!).

We headed to Nuremberg, a beautiful medieval city but also famous for the Nazi Party rallies pre WWII and the trials after the war. Some of the largest Nazi structures built here have survived at least in part (many were never finished in their entirety due to the start of the war). We spent a good amount of time in the Documentation Centre where a very frank presentation of the rise of the Hitler, the Nazi party and the ultimate consequences are presented.

From here and in sharp contrast, we drove on to take in the sights of the Romantic Road. This road winds through some beautiful countryside and stunningly pretty villages. The sun was properly out and although we didn't have time to do the whole route, we enjoyed what we saw on the Northern part.

Tonight we're staying in the spectacular Castle Colmberg Hotel. The blip is one of the fabulous views across the landscape late in the afternoon from the hotel grounds. It is a beautiful spot.

Quite a few photos from today to add to Flickr but a terrible internet connection means I can't get the uploads to work so they will wait for another day.
