A Writer's Life

Cheer master

We woke up to the news of the passing of a dear member of our family. Because he was also a public figure, we learn of his death through the media, which made for a rather weird wake-up. So Oli and I went to see my mom, because he knew just how much his Mimi could use a hug.

I'll miss his presence, the way his wisdom, his calm, made difficult moments easier to bear. His sense of humor and absence of pretense. And I'll always regret that Oli never got to meet him.
