And Now for Something Completely Different
Enough of fallen trees, horses, dogs, tractors.... today is Childrens Day.
With the routine work out of the way, started on preparing the Megane for the spare parts which will hopefully come from the UK before the weekend. I don't like the idea of repeating this morning again next week.5:00am wake up and not even a cup of coffee bought to my bedside. After dash to station at 5:30 and -5°C shock, could no longer go back to sleep.
Tried following the video on how to dismantle the door innards of a Megane. The simple three screws video saying how easy it was to exchange the spare part had little to do with reality. Eventually got it done but at least 10 screws and I should have used a hair dryer to warm up the plastic plugs. I wonder how many screws will be left over after I put it all back together.
Then late afternoon over to neary Kammlach. Tom a work colleague (I am still officially employed or at least haven't been sacked) asked me if I could pick up a present he had bought for his daughter. A Unimog pedal car with snow plough. The poor lass is too young to be able to use the thing (designed for 3-6 year olds) but Tom wants to be prepared. His personal dream has always been to have a (real) Unimog and it looks like he won't achieve it, so this is the closest he can get.
While in Kammlach quickly visited the people who several months ago gave me J's skis and boots for free. They were in the middle of negotations to sell a car but I was able to quickly thank them and show a picture of J skiing. They seemed very touched.
On the way home picked up Angie from the station and did some clearing up after another cool but windstill sunny day. Even bees had a good day flying. Tomorrow the warmth arrives. Wonder how long we can keep horses off the fields, the grass is still very short and the ground too wet.
Oh by the way - all the pedal cars are fom the same manufacturer, Rolly Toxs, Cost around 180 - 200 Euros new. Apart from the orange Unimog, the green Fendt and red/white Steyr tractors in both cases were given to me by the workers at the recycling center in Ottobeuren. The Fendt last year, the Steyr just last weekr. Sadly the grandchildren weren't here to use them. I could have picked up the Unimog before Easter and Tom had said they could use it too! I suspect that grandson Elliot may be too big to use them when he next comes but granndaughter Charlotte may have a spin. Girls and their toys! Dads and grandpas forcing them to live out their dreams.
Sadly today not a Tuesday so can't enter this Blip in the Tractor Tuesday challenge!.
