The mummies of Guanajuato.

These poor folks were dug up because their families did not keep up the burial fees. This practice continued till the 1950's. Oddly enough, as legend goes, it was the soil that mummified them. Most of them are not very old. Many are still wearing the shoes they were buried in, because the leather didn't rot,and the babies are still in their blankets. My wife,whose reflection you can see, was shocked, as was I. I recommend a visit to the museum.
