Skylarks Galore
Thanks to you all for the feedback on yesterday's flower crop. Useful and constructive.
I had to walk up to the village this morning to collect a prescription and as it was such a still, blue sky day, I came back over the ridge. There were skylarks in abundance overhead although I could only pick out the odd one or two and it was too hazy to pick out any landmarks.
I met a solitary dog on my walk down through the wheat or barley field, a rather overweight and exuberant labrador, which if it had jumped up would have flattened me. I managed to grab it and make a mental note of the phone number and his name, but after a few minutes I spotted his owner coming round the edge of the rape field, so that was ok.
As I made my way over the first playing field I did a double-take at the ridge tiles on one of the houses as there was a Muscovy duck nicely snuggled down having a snooze. We do occasionally get Mallards on the roofs but that was definitely a first.
So today's blip is of a skylark surveying its domain.
