Relieved

Back to see a doctor, a different one, today to discuss the blood pressure tests. No surprise that I have high blood pressure - were it otherwise I'd not have been invited back to the surgery. I have made some poor lifestyle choices in the past so I was pleasantly surprised when she suggested that these were not directly contributory to my current health - in fact she indicated that my health is probably better than many and that I'd done well to live this long without medical intervention. We discussed some terms such as "good diet". Our views differed slightly in that she seemed to think this meant living on half a lettuce leaf and a mug of green tea each day while my view of eating well tends more to large portions of well-prepared food including potatoes roasted in beef dripping and steak with a pink middle and a hint of blood when it's cut. Regardless, she doesn't think that living differently would make much impact given our family history so I am able to blame my parents and I've decided not to take up marathon running. Probably a good thing as the gout is back so I'm advised to stop the anti-gout treatment until it abates.

Otherwise the day has included a trip into town to spend the gift voucher from the team I left in December and to stock up on incense. Then I went for a short  walk to find images to feed the hungry maw of the bliposphere. Here we see a different bit of the Medway in the afternoon sun with a breeze rippling the reflections.
