Soar Mill Cove

We went down to the beach at Thurlestone this morning. Dad had bought some new binoculars and wanted to use them to see some sea birds and to go to the nature reserve. We saw some large cormorants on the rock next to the Thurlestone Arch and a few others ( I am rubbish at identifying birds!).

I had read about the Walker's Hut as a place to stop off after a walk on the coastal path- what a fantastic place- an honesty box and help yourself to coffee, homemade cake and cream teas. All very fresh and tasted fabulous.

As Mr CFJ had been brought up in these parts, he took us to this cove ( he would walk here as a boy and spend the day on the beach with friends). It was so gorgeous- reminded me of a beach I went to as a child in Glenbarr in Argyleshire.

Needless to say, the dog was covered in sand again ( and so were the kids!)

Dad at 80 managed all the walking and thoroughly enjoyed the fresh air and sea breeze. ( He also has a slightly burnt head as the sun has been so strong....)
