Cotswold Way
The Cotswold Way runs from Chipping Campden to Bath. Jane and I started walking it about 15 years ago and we have done about half of it. We actually walked the last section about 10 years ago. As it gets further from home it becomes a logistic problem as taking two cars becomes less practical.
Jane had the bright (and obvious) idea of using a taxi. So we walked the section from Uley to Wotton-under-Edge and got a taxi back to where the car was parked. The guidebook said it was 9.5 miles and warned that it was a very hilly section. When we reached the end my satnav told me we had walked 12.5 miles! I think this was because we walked an optional loop round the Stinchcombe Hill golf course that was not included in the guidebook.
The weather was fabulous although it was very hazy which spoilt the views.
This view shows the footpath across the fields towards North Nibley. The tower on the hill in the distance is the Tyndale monument named after William Tyndale who was burnt at the stake for translating the Bible into English.
Highlight of the walk was an excellent lunch and a delicious pint at the Old Spot Inn in Dursley.
Next stop Tormarten and onwards to Bath :-)
(Thanks to JDO for pointing out my error when I said it went from Winchcombe)
