Cave houses

In this area, the rock is so soft that people have dug buildings out of it and lived in them. Unfortunately in 1956 there was an earthquake which did a lot of damage and the government decided to disallow people to live in this way. Nowadays they are using them as shops and hotels (though I can't see how that's much different.....)
