Wet weekend ahead

The rain has come. I wish I'd got around to finishing the mowing. There's a patch of grass that I did cut and a whole lot that I didn't. Still the dandelions are pretty and the bees appreciate them.

My mason bees have started coming out. I've seen them going into the tubes to lay their eggs and three tubes have been filled. Apparently they lay the girls at the back and the boys at the front so that next year the boys can come out first and wait for the girls. It was ever thus. The poor boys live long enough to mate, then their job is done.
