through the branches

A walk from Arnside today starting from the prom, then along the shore, up the rocks when the mud sand got too sticky, along the path through the woods where this photo was taken, through the caravan park and back over Arnside Knott.

Lots of wildlife. First we spotted a heron, then 3 little egrets and a few cormorants, all feeding in the estuary. There was a tree with lots of goldfinches on the branches and later in the woods we saw a nuthatch and 2 squirrels (grey ones).

Got photos of 2 trains on the viaduct. The first I waited in anticipation for, having heard the whistle. When it appeared it was only an engine. The next which I took after the walk was pulled by ‘Northern Belle’ and had a colourful mix of carriages.
