Little Dennis
We drove to Falmouth today. This is a blip of "Little Dennis" which sits almost on the waterline below Pendennis Castle. We are told that there have been defences on this point since 1539, when Henry VIII built this blockhouse to protect the estuary from warships and troop landings. Henry's blockhouse was equipped with guns on 2 floors. You can see gun ports on the lower floor but only a parapet on the open upper floor (whose wooden structure is long gone).
