Staircase at Edinburgh Botanical Gardens.
We decided to declare Friday a "holiday" that meant we would leave the job we planned to do for Kat until Saturday. So instead of getting the tool out we got on a bus and headed out to the Botanical Gardens. Somewhere neither Clickychick or I had been before.
What a fascinating place and photo opportunities. I started with the East Gate made by a Blacksmith from Workington over in west Cumbria not terribly far from where we live. Then of course there were the sweeping vistas round the gardens and all the individual flowers. We were going to have lunch at the cafe so meandered our way through the gardens arriving with time to look at the displays before going up stairs to the cafe.
This is the fabulous (well fabulous in my eyes) staircase leading up to the cafe. It is made totally from laminated wood, steps, sides etc. The effect is wonderful and I could have spent a long time just looking at the grain.
After a lovely lunch we headed into town for CC to do some shopping while I watched the world go by over a coffee in Valvona & Carolla's cafe. A very enjoyable visit as somehow we rarely stray into the centre of Edinburgh or do the tourist thing when we are up there.
