Nesting

This is a duck nesting her eggs in front of the restaurant where we celebrated my aunts 70th birthday today. Her nest is about 1 meter high from the ground. I wonder what happens when the little ones hatch out and they fall on the ground. She's never gonna get them up again. Or are they on the move from that moment froward?
