It's Murphy's Law!
If anything can
go wrong, it certainly will -
and today's the day!

N began right after breakfast to remove one outside tap from the lawn and to extend the water line to the new office. He started digging up the driveway with the backhoe, found the lines he needed to change and continued digging with a shovel where necessary. He disclosed the line to the tap, about 6 feet long, had it isolated when it suddenly fell over into the ditch, snapping off in the ground. That's when the water began to fill the ditch.....N ran for the shutoffs and contained the eruption. Now he had a waterfilled ditch to drain before he could work in it. He sorted out the pump and hoses.....we helped to bucket the last of the dirty water into the garden so he could get at the area he now had to repair. It is Sunday so the plumbing wholesaler is not open. N sorts through the plumbing supplies he has squirreled away for just such times as this. Meanwhile, the phone is ringing with tenants wanting to know why their water is not working and what time it will be back in service.
It's times like these that we get the measure of people. We see how they handle inconvenience or irritation. We find out who the whiners are and who uses their manners, even in times of trouble.
N had all the pipe back together and the water back on by 3:30 PM. Well done for a one-man crew!
