Medieval Conduit Head

Deep in the Pipehall Woodland Trust woods there is an ancient building.  It was restored a couple of years ago, but it has been there since the Middle Ages.  This solid brick structure with a door at the front (described by a fellow blipper as a hobbit house door) is the Conduit Head.

The spring taking water to Lichfield Cathedral appears here and this was constructed to protect the purity of the flow.

When the Woodland Trust took over Jubilee Wood, they started work and this unusual construction appears on all of their maps.

At the same time as they took over the woods, they planted a splendid wildflower meadow (I've posted photos many times, but none of them do it justice. I cried the first time I saw it.)

I went in search of the bluebells.  They are coming out. A bit of sunshine and warmth and they will be glorious in the next couple of weeks.... watch this space.
