Love at the Hall.
East Riddlesden Hall a property of the National Trust at Riddlesden Nr Keighley.
After Pilates my friend wanted to visit a shop in Keighley so I suggested a visit to E R Hall for lunch en route, as the cafe is now open for the summer.
This interesting lighting feature along side the duck pond is new since I last visited. The barn (out of sight behind us) is a very popular venue for weddings and a walk along this path is required to visit the loo, so my guess is that they have put it up to enable wedding guests to safely negotiate this route after dark! Also it will look very pretty at night.
The hall is a 17th century Manor House built in 1642 for a wealthy Halifax clothier. We didn't go in today but it is worth a tour around the rooms and the little garden to the rear of the walled facade. In the summer there are often outdoor events including music and plays. They are doing Twelfth Night this summer and we have been to Jazz evenings in the past.
Nice place to have on your doorstep, if only for a sandwich!
