Disappearing car

Driving back home to Akureyri after a very nice visit to Reykjavík and Keflavík. This is on Holtavörðuheiði moor. 

As you can see, the weather conditions were rather special. The sun was shining, but it was very windy, and the loose snow whirled over the road, making it difficult to see if there were any cars ahead. Shortly after I took this photo, the car in front of us suddenly disappeared and my first thought was that it had driven off the road, which it had not done. The snow-whirlwind just hid it totally. 

Unfortunately, only two hours later there was a big collision, not so far away from this spot, when a total of 12 cars crashed, but luckily only two people got minor injuries. 

We were grateful to get home safely.
