How do they do it?

Lovely morning, cold and crisp, sunny too, proper Autumn day. (Changed now though!!) After doing various jobs took Spike for a run, and passed the paddocks, they are surrounded by old Willows, all much the same, how do they manage to live with the middle totally missing?? Looked a bit different, so here it is.!!
