Blue Bonnets and Wine Cups

Now back in Austin Texas again we visited the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Centre where we knew we would be in for a treat at this time of year. It was lovely to see groups of children with their teachers as it had been the hope of Lady Bird Johnson that future generations could experience nature's beauty just as she had growing up in Texas.

The central reservations of all the highways in the Austin area are a blaze of colour especially the Blue Bonnets, Texas Paintbrush and Indian Blanket. In the Wildflower Centre there are apparently 650 species of native plants - we have visited here twice before in July when the heat is overwhelming and everything is so dry and I am sure it can never look as colourful as it does just now.
