Working off the pancakes

His eyes got huge when he saw the stack of pancakes with four burning candles. His mouth opened wide to gobble them up, each one shaped like the letters in his name, with just the right amount of chocolate sprinkles embedded. It's not ideal to have your birthday fall on a day where everyone has to be at school and work. But at least someone who loves him to bits fixed him pancakes and talked about Halloween all the way to school. Maybe that's why his arms opened wide to give me a hug. Sniff.
