The Common

It's just a simple picture of Bury Field Common in Newport, on the last day of May, walking Archie the Dog.

I love the Common, the gentle hill and the copse on the crest, with the trees now in leaf.

But today, after a short sweltering heatwave, when it seemed the earth would melt under the sun's glare, it grew cooler, and there was a kind of mizzle (misty drizzle, for those who don't know the word).
