' Ne'er cast a clout 'til May is out'. Do 'people' still say that?

And if they do, are they talking about May the month or May the blossom?

This year in East Yorkshire it doesn't matter because the May blossom (on the miles of beautiful Hawthorn hedges) have just appeared.

So on either count it is now acceptable to cast a clout or two.
