Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

"Cabin fever" is what all five of us -- Mr. Fun, myself, and all three pups -- were struggling with late this afternoon. We had spent a couple hours outside working in the back yard and side yard; the side yard is mostly where I focused my attention and energy, pulling some weeds and moving toward the front of that next door vacant property where I had cleared and prepared ground last summer for a flower garden.

Today I never quite made it to the flower bed, but I did some significant clearing on the yard just behind there. Meantime Mr. Fun cleared a little square of ground inside the small fenced-in back yard that had been covered with decorative bark; our dogs have used that space to "go" but really don't like walking on the uneven surface.

I had pulled enough weeds when I decided it was "Quitting Time." Back inside the house we just relaxed for a while when finally everyone was tasting "cabin fever" and it was time to just go -- go somewhere, anywhere.

So we put leashes on the pups and gathered a few things; I've learned to take a hooded sweatshirt with me whenever we go somewhere because the temperature changes significantly if we are in the wind or not, or in the shade or not, or whether we go south in this Estero Bay region or not.

Mr. Fun said, "Let's go" and we gathered our stuff and went. He started driving north toward Cambria and once we approached that area, he explained that he was going to drive a bit further and before long we had passed San Simeon where the famous Hearst Castle is and we found ourselves at the small tourist stop called "Ragged Point." This place has a luxury motel and an elegant restaurant, a fast food place with picnic tables, a mini-market, and a gift shop. They also have beautiful grounds. So we walked the pups and they were thrilled.

The air was very cold, so I was more than glad that we had warm clothes so we could bundle-up. I took a few pictures, but captured this photo while Mr. Fun was driving a few miles south of "Ragged Point " which is at the southern tip of the Big Sur Coast.

Once we arrived home, we heated some of our delicious Farmers Market vegan soup to have a light evening meal and then settled in as we watched the day become night.
