The Fix

Once again, there was a news story today about Addiction - whoever is selecting these ODC topics certainly has their pulse on current affairs! :)

The story was titled 'Is Addiction a Disease?', and described how, according to some sources, addiction is a pandemic disease driven by our high-stress culture and existential angst:

Whether addiction is chemically based, or something much more subtle like your mobile phone, the disease model is certainly a controversial one. There is no denying, however, that there is a fundamental change in the relationship between human beings and their social environment, leading to the progressive replacement of people by material objects.

Sorry for the heavy content but one that is worth some thought I'm sure you'll agree. Anyway, I shall leave you with this final thought -

"Everyone is addicted to something" ...
