Bird feeder
As it was such a beautiful day today I opened up the glasshouses, damped down the floors and we drove down to Tarbert, on Loch Fyne, for a run in the sun.
We climbed up to Tarbert Castle, had lunch in the Gallery Café along at the end of the town - we would thoroughly recommend it if you're not looking for a Fish Tea or burger and chips at the other cafes in town - and stopped off to see the wonderful rhododendrons at Stonefield Castle Hotel. An amazing place, though sad that it's never been looked after, due to lack of funds maybe. Great historical value as there are rhododendrons there grown from seed collected by Joseph Hooker in Sikkim in 1850, but desperately in need of some tender loving care. There was a big noisy wedding on today!
In spite of all these wonderful photo opportunities I finally chose something much more down to earth. As we were leaving Tarbert I was surprised to see a young man come out of the pub - or a shop, I'm not sure - with half a sliced loaf. He crossed over to the harbour wall and whistled up the solitary swan. Soon a few more birds arrived and he stood there happily feeding them. Made my day!
