Today's the day ............................... to smell the lilac blossom

We weren't the only ones to smell the gorgeous perfume of the white lilac blossom growing in a nearby garden.

This snail had somehow made its way up into the tree and out along a slender twig so that it was almost- but not quite - within reach of a cone of blossom. There it was - suspended upside down - twisting this way and that trying to get closer.

I have to say that I wasn't inclined to help it get there either because I know what it would have done. As far as I'm concerned, lilac blossom is for smelling only ................................
