Gravity
Decided to make the most of our trip over to the East of England by visiting Belton House today. BUT on the way we realised that we were going past Sir Isaac Newton's front door at Woolsthorpe Manor so ventured off the Great North Road. What a little gem we found! Lovely little manor house/farm and the apple tree that Newton sat under is still in the orchard! (Or at least the regrowth of the original tree!) You could really feel that this was a special place where special things had happened... Today's blip is that tree - a Flower of Kent apple tree - which fortuitously dropped it's fruit when the great man was sitting underneath it.
Then we went on to Belton House which in contrast was enormous, but very interesting in a different way.
Then we realised that we weren't far from Newark on Trent where one of SHH's cousins lives so we took ourselves off on a surprise visit (we did phone first!) and found two cousins there which was a lovely surprise. We spent a happy couple of hours there catching up on lots of family news and history.
A lovely weekend.
