Big Yellow Cat
We have been hearing since we moved here that the big open space laced with creeks, an extension of a subdivision whose developer went bankrupt when the housing bubble burst, would one day be built upon. It is less than 1,000 steps from our back gate , and the only place in the county where the dogs can walk off leash.
Apparently that day has come because when we got there this morning there were bright orange porta potties, survey stakes and a pile of construction material. A call to our realtor neighbor revealed that the land has been approved for 23 houses, so this may have been one of our last walks there.
We passed this yellow cat, perched on a fence post watching us intently, although he was not showing any inclination to run. He kept us in his sights, moving nothing but his head as we passed, then stood up and sauntered off...if one could be said to saunter on a 2" thick fence rail.
We have new neighbors in the house next door, which. Although they have owned the house for four years, forces conspired to prevent them from moving until last month. We all went to lunch at Diavola in Geyserville, a wide spot in the road near the head of the Alexander Valley which boasts at least two excellent restaurants. I realize, upon rereading the post in the link above, that that was the day before we saw the house we now live in for the first time.
Our next outing with these neighbors will be one at a time in their two seater Cessna which they just had flown out from the Florida Keys to the Sonoma County airport. They are very excited about it…me, not so much and John not at all. We'll see how that works out….
