You've Been Flocked

You’ve been flocked! That is what the sign in Kylee’s front yard this morning. The sign was accompanied by 20 pink flamingos scattered throughout her front lawn. What Kylee didn’t know is that I paid my church youth group to “flock” her. My church’s youth group is doing a “flocking” fundraiser. Anyone can pay $10 dollars for a “flock” of 10 flamingos to be sent to someone’s front yard. You can also add a message to the flock for an additional $5. If you don’t want your house to be flocked, you can purchase “flocker’s insurance” for $25. Thankfully when I paid to flock Kylee, she hadn’t purchased insurance. Because Kylee is a very good friend of mine, I sent her a double flock with a message attached.  Because my youth group only has 100 flamingos, Kylee’s name was put on a waiting list. Finally, it was her turn to be flocked. MY church youth groups met in the church parking lot at 10pm and assigned drivers. I was one of the drivers, along with the youth group director, a volunteer parent, and a town cop. We drove as a group to other houses, collecting their flocks and leaving a thank-you note on their door steps.  Finally, it came time to unload 20 flamingos into Kylee’s front yard. I’m still not sure how legal it is to put flamingos in someone’s front yard at night; especially when they have no idea you are there. However, I assumed the town cop would back us up if there was any trouble. The next morning I received a text from Kylee. It read “….youuuuu…..”. The flocking was a success.
