Former train station at Morville sur Andelle

Train used to be very important to connect  the countryside to the cities.  Many old train stations  have been converted into homes, but their original vocation is still visible in the rectangular spot for the sign on the front, the old station clock, the control house in the background, and the shape of the building which is very typical.  This was a relatively large station - there is a flour mill next door so the freight was important.

The trains and rails were used for the transportation of German troops during WWII (this is Normandy) and the rails were torn up after the war.  Many of these houses remain, and the track beds are still visible throughout the countryside (including at the end of our property).

Dates on the mill building indicate 1839 to 1939, and the train certainly serviced t from the start.  It is still a working mill.
