Tent Square

Following the attempted "invasion" of the Town Hall last week a number of tents are encamped in Albert Square.

I've heard the protest is about rough sleepers and the cuts that are having to be made - but that's unclear.

The City Council no doubt has eviction processes in train.

Midnight tonight is the deadline for registering to vote in the general and local elections in May. There may be a lot of apathy and disenchantment out there with mainstream politics. But there is also quite a bit of interest focussed on single issues.

Police can be seen standing at the main Town Hall door. They are also at the other entrances, and will presumably be there for some time.
