Now and then

Tonight I participated in a "historical walking tour" through the center of town here in Akureyri. A large number of people attended this event in the evening sun. Jón Hjaltason (a historian) and Pétur Bolli Jóhannesson told us many stories and explained how the town has grown and developed through the last 100+ years. While I was listening I snapped a few photos of the spires downtown.

This photo today was chosen because it made me smile. In the middle are Jón and Pétur Bolli and to the left is the mayor of Akureyri, Eiríkur Björn (who also happens to be my second cousin). Sigurður Jóhannesson is the older man on the far right.
