Digging sur l'herbe

Started a new site, today.
Quite a pleasant spot, as LeftHand is finding...
We turned up a single human femur in a ditch, so had to call the police (mostly a courtesy as we knew it had been there for more than 70 years).
What fun they had: first it was a PC and an inspector on site, later on, two CID plain-clothes guys came down, and they all stared into the trench and made notes. Eventually we managed to persuade them to let us carry on, I think they hadn't had so much excitement for a long time...
