Old train line around Paris

La Petite Ceinture - in the 1850's this train line was built around Paris, and carried passengers until the 1930's and freight through the 1970's.  This portion of about 1.5 km in the 15th arrondissement was particularly important for the nearby Citroen manufacturing site, the Vaugirard slaughterhouses (now Parc George Brassens), and the Javel bleach manufacture.  The past Mayors of Paris and of the 15th arrondissement have included this is the "Green Policy", creating a very popular pedestrian and botanical path - particularly at lunchtime on a bright sunny spring day!!
