Blackthorn blossom

The locals around these parts talk of a "blackthorn winter". Once the blackthorn blossoms, we get a cold snap. We seem to get that quite often, from March through to July!
It is very pretty though, with its long stamens. Hopefully we will get plenty of sloes in the autumn to make sloe gin with!
