lee house lee lane halifax Built in 1766 as a wedding present for a daughter of the Stocks family, a family who were successful with coal-mining and brewing. The family name is still commemorated in the Stocks Arms at Northowram. The house was designed in a Georgian style by John Carr of York (who also designed Somerset House in Halifax)
