School's Out...

Backblipped 01.06.12

Till Wednesday!

Alan's last day at his school today before he starts his new one next week. Typically we were running late, which with hindsight was probably a good thing as no time to dwell on the fact.

Once he left there was suddenly a host of problems to sort out. When David popped into the house last night he discovered the dccorator had painted a wall in our bedroom that should have been papered and had left a different wall for papering. Managed to get hold of him so that was sorted out before any further work was done.

Had to rearrange delivery of Alan's new bed as when they tried to deliver it on Wednesday they couldn't get access to his bedroom. We knew this would happen and agreed they would assemble it in the dining room and we would move it to his bedroom later, not realising that once it was assembled it would be too large to move along the hall! Doh!

Then onto the transport dept to finalise the arrangements for school transport for next week. Hopefully that's now sorted.

Various other phone calls then finally by about 11am I as ready to start packing the stuff the packers aren't packing! Ele and Jen arrived just after 12 with lunch so a quick break then on with the packing. (Jen brought her prom dress to let me see. It's gorgeous and will definitely be a future blip)

We've never had the luxury of the removal firm doing the bulk of the packing before so it's slightly strange and a little unnerving to be moving on Saturday yet the house is still looking fairly normal.

Alan got dropped off and Alison, his taxt escort was bubbling as she brought him to the door and of course that set me off! Meanwhile he was grinning at us. Probably thinking what a pair of eejits! The school had thrown a big leaving party for him and he came home with a bag full of lovely sorry you're leaving and good luck cards. I was bubbling again as we looked at them together. He also got his report card and it is fantastic. I am so proud of him. He's worked so hard this year. Here's hoping that continues in his new school!

Adam, one of our neighbours, popped in to say cheerio just as Ele and I were emptying the hall cupboard so he could only get about three steps into the hall! There was also Christmas music playing in the living room (Alan's choice!) so not sure that's done anything to dispel the neighbour's image of me as rather strange (blipping outside in jeans and my nightie with a towel on my head has not helped my reputation!) Anyway, it was nice of him to pop in and bring a card.

Kenny arrived over and David collected a chinese takeaway on his way home from work. Worked out a plan for Saturday which seemed to go along the lines of

Watch removers fill van.
Watch removers empty van at other end.
Get fish suppers for tea.
Drink lots of champagne.
Go to bed.

Sounds good to me! :)
