A moment

Just as the movie credits give us that moment to breathe out and reemerge from the story, so to does the moment of closing a book and reshelving it. I read the last few words and know the fascinating and wonderful journey is over. I close the book and reflect on the smell, the glossy cover, the heft. Slowly I return to this world with one moon. By the time the book has found a spot with its friends I am almost ready to let it go. A moment more and then the journey is complete and the story placed within my heart to be turned over in days to come.
