Fryrish Monument
We made a very slow climb up to the Fryrish Monument today in the company of 2 friends and their 4 dogs of varying sizes and ages. After yesterday we were all very good at carrying bottles and bottles of water in our backpacks for the dogs.
Once we got to the top the water bowls were produced and filled to overflowing with water. I had a small sip of water myself before pouring the rest into the dog's bowls. "Come on dogs, water time." We then watched as all the dogs ran over to the bowls, Poppy got there first, "She's so thirsty I thought, poor girl."
We then watched in horror as she proceeded to pick up each water bowl in turn, empty it all over the grass and then ran round the monument with her chosen one, followed by a couple of Alison's dogs who decided to join her.
I had forgotten, I always hold on to the bowl as she drinks to prevent this, throwing a water bowl up into the air is one of her favourite occupations.
"Poor dogs" we thought they will be so thirsty". But all 6 dogs then disappeared behind the monument to drink to their fill from the large, deep, fresh pools in the bog behind us.
We walked back down the hill with a spring in our steps, no longer weighed down with loaded backpacks but feeling very silly.
It was a great walk with much laughter, the views were stunning and the weather gorgeous.
