When our builders finished roofing the house last year, the children were devastated to lose the scaffolding mini-gym which had been 'literally the best thing ever'. So, as a leaving present, Steve The Builder spent his free Saturday building an asymmetric bars set-up out of scaffolding poles in our back garden.
Summer turned to Autumn, the children went back to school, the bars were untouched. Winter came, the bars were icy cold and hurt their hands. Jamie and I stared glumly at the ugly, abandoned scaffolding gibbet and rued the day ...
Now of course, it's sunny and warm and all we hear is, 'can I go on the bars?' Sal comes home from school and rushes outside, leaps on and swings round and round and round.
Nice one, Steve.
