Oranges and Lemons
Recipe for awesomely tasty, awesomely simple, homemade lemonade:
2 lemons
1 cup sugar (to cut calories, you can substitute 1/4 cup sugar plus 9 pink Sweet 'n Low packets)
2 quarts cold water
Wash and slice lemons.
Place lemon slices and cup of sugar into a 2-quart container.
Smoosh lemons and sugar thoroughly until you get a gooey syrup (I use a metal ice cream scooper for the smooshing).
Add water, stir, and refrigerate.
Serve!
If you don't drink it all on the same day you made it, be sure to remove the lemon slices before bedtime, as the lemonade will draw the bitterness from the rinds if the fruit slices are left in.
On this day, I made it with a slight deviation: I used one orange and one lemon, as that's what I had. All the rest was the same. The yield was a fresh, light, fruity summer beverage; a good thirst quencher.
Enjoy!
