Paisley Abbey

Viewed from the west  this 12th century great monastic house dominates the town centre. The west doorway and the nave are among the oldest parts all pre 1500 but much of the east side with vaulted choir and tower were rebuilt from the Victorian era after being in ruins since the reformation
To the south and east of the cloisters is the 16thC. Place (Palace) of Paisley a four storey and attic Scotch house with typical dormers, crows steps and skews
This was first associated with monastic life but by the19thC. was flatted and even had a public house!!  but now back in church use
